Glenorchy

HISTORY

The neighbourhood of Glenorchy is expected to be built over the next 20 years. Glenorchy is part of the “New Communities of Oakville” which is said to be “forward-looking while embracing the town’s past.” This will be achieved by linking several of the street names to the area’s past by marking several heritage buildings for preservation.

OVERVIEW

Glenorchy is part of Oakville’s largest remaining new development. It is combined with 407 West (an employment area), Sixteen Hollows and Joshua’s meadows. Together they will create the New Communities of Oakville, home to an expected 50,000 people. This neighbourhood will be bordered by Neyagawa to the west, Hwy 407 to the north, Trafalgar Rd. to the east and Dundas St. to the south. The New Communities of Oakville are both walking-friendly and transit-friendly, including many natural open spaces.
